Rooms 011-012

Parts of Willy-Brandt Straße 8 used to function as a police station, and rooms 011 and 012 were cells used to keep those captive after arrested or before being transferred.

Originally meant as an adaptation of Death in Venice mounted in these rooms, this lecture-tour becomes an inquiry of the limits of dramaturgy. What is to be done with spaces haunted by the stories and structures of the past?

Filmed by Carlos Hernández

Performed on 24.06.2023 at Campus Gegenwart Sommerfest

Upon the conclusion of the lecture performance, we talked about the limits of theater and dramaturgy, and we asked ourselves: what could these spaces be now?

We documented those ideas on an empty door label directly adjacent to the prison cells.
